Roper Publishes Op-ed on "Ukraine Shows How Drones Are Changing Warfare"

Will Roper, distinguished professor of the practice in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, co-authored an op-ed in Time Magazine titled "Ukraine Shows How Drones Are Changing Warfare." In it, Roper and co-author Eric Schmidt argue that the war in Ukraine underscores the vital role of ground troops and the imperative for continuous innovation in software and drone technology.

"Progress cannot be stopped, only guided. If software and drones can change a battlefield, they will—hundreds at a time. The world will need new conventions for doing this responsibly, and means of decrying violations," they write.
