Senator Nunn has said, “Bridges must be built between the world of science and the world of human relations, bridges which can give shape and purpose to our technology and breathe heart and soul into our knowledge.” The Sam Nunn School of International Affairs is building those bridges, and we hope you will join us.
Welcome to the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at Georgia Tech, where we develop leaders equipped to tackle 21st century global challenges.
Our emphasis on the integration of science, technology, and international affairs is evident in programs such as the undergraduate minor in Global Development, Master of Science in International Affairs and Science and Technology, as well as our interdisciplinary graduate certificates in Emerging Technology and Proliferation, International Security and Aerospace Systems, and Astrobiology. It’s also apparent in the research interests of our faculty in areas such as nuclear proliferation, space policy and governance, global political and economic development, international economic competitiveness, and more.
The School’s focus is on preparing our students for 21st century professional careers. Our graduates accept positions across the public, private, and nongovernmental sectors, including at premier institutions such as Deloitte, Boeing Defense, Coca-Cola, The Carter Center, and U.S. Departments of Energy, Defense, and State. In addition, our students pursue a variety of career opportunities across the national and private sector intelligence communities. We help them get there by offering a curriculum infused with scholarly and practical problem-solving, interdisciplinary perspectives forged at a top-flight technological research university, opportunities to engage directly with former diplomats, retired senior national security policymakers, and corporate executives, as well as experiential learning, including a transformative semester in Washington as part of our innovative GTDC program.
Students emerge from our programs with a strategic and comparative understanding of the myriad issues at the nub of contemporary international business, security, governance, and non-governmental work. And they graduate with technological acumen to complement training in systematic and critical thinking, negotiation, and data and visual analysis — skills that employers from the Department of Defense to CARE to Delta Airlines desire and seek out.
Whether you are interested in pursuing a position in government, seeking a place in academia, or considering an internationally focused career in the private and/or non-governmental sectors, the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs can equip you with the intellectual moxie and practical skills you need to succeed.
We’re glad to have you here!
