About the Project

Jacob Young's capstone research project focused on the Compact of Free Association and its effect on economic development in the freely associated states and sought to answer the question of whether it has furthered economic dependence on the United States, and if so, by what means. In order to address this question, he analyzed budget data from the three countries which receive Compact grants: Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, and Palau.
