Eleanor Reece is the senior director of Global Communications at the Whirlpool Corporation. Her other previous experiences include director of International Government Relations at General Motors, principal at Public Strategies Inc., and producer/Writer for CNN.

How did Tech and the Nunn School help you get where you are?

Tech and the Nunn School exposed me to the many career opportunities available to those interested in International Affairs. I obtained my first internship through a career event at Tech, and that internship helped me land my first job post-graduation at CNN. From there, I learned to apply the energy, discipline and focus that Tech fostered in me throughout my career and professional experiences.

What advice you would give current students at Tech as well as the Sam Nunn School specifically?

I recommend participating in a study abroad program. During my time at Tech, I was fortunate enough to participate in two study abroad programs (Oxford and China programs), and those experiences were incredibly invaluable.  Having the opportunity to visit a foreign country -- to get a real sense of what you’re learning up-close -- is truly the best kind of education.  

What is something that you got from studying International Affairs at Tech?

Studying International Affairs at Tech helped broaden my understanding of the world at large, including the tremendous impact government policies have on the global economy.
